We also received the list of Club Donations from 7-1-05 to 12-31-05.
11E1 had Sheridan Lions Club and the Honor Lions Club on that prestigious list.

If your club is not on either list we are asking you to either schedule a photo shoot or make a donation before this year is completed June 30, 2006.

PDG Richard Maguire presenting a donation for the use of Project Kidsight for the District to PDG Dan Gibbons, District Chairperson of Project Kidsight, Governor Janalee McClure, PDG Jim Chipman taking notes and IPDG Chester Kudla overseeing the presentation Jan. 15, 2006 at the Cabinet Meeting in White Cloud

In addition to the cash donation for the project, the Darrell F. Clark Family also donated a Kidsight Polaroid Camera to District 11E1. Special thanks to PDG Dick Maguire for putting this all together for us. With the 2nd camera clubs should have a much easier time scheduling shoots. Our numbers should go up significantly. Maybe next year we’ll be #1 District in the State!

As you can see, we have eight (8) students in the band this year from District 11E1. All of the students could use support from the clubs in our District. All the clubs need to do is send a check to the State Office with the students name in the memo part of the check. The money will be applied to that student’s outstanding amount due and you have a part of our band that will perform in Boston at the International Convention. The students must fund their own trip to the tune of $1,875.00 each. That covers their rehearsal meals, the 4 day pre-tour camp and the 10 day tour to Boston, Philadelphia & Hershey.

Our band won #2 place honors in the parade at the International Convention in Hong Kong. The band also participated in the International Parade of Banners at the opening ceremony. Our Lions of Michigan All State Band is an outstanding youth activity. If you have any questions call our District Chairperson Mike Filkins, Cadillac Club or Laurene Homsher, Fremont Club.
In addition, the administration of the All State Band needs donations from Clubs in our District. The administration fund covers the dress uniforms, instruments, music, equipment and staff costs. The students only cover their own personal cost, we cover the rest. Every club in the state has been asked to consider donating $80.00 to the administration of our Lions band. Please do as much as you can for this wonderful cause.

International rules state that each District must have a minimum of 35 clubs with a minimum membership of 1,250. As you can see by the numbers our District 11E1 is well within the International rules but already we have four districts under the minimum numbers of membership. That problem could be corrected with redistricting but that is a very long and difficult process. The Lions International Board must approve and changes to any district in the world.
Gaining new Lion Members is the real answer. Congratulations to all Clubs in 11E1 for the work you’re doing with your membership gains. If every club in

our District ends the year with a plus one membership from the beginning of the year, July 1, 2005, we will be eligible for an award from the President of Lions International!
The International President is very serious about membership. In fact, he has instituted two new programs that might help our Clubs.
If a previous lion member rejoins, your Club will receive a $25.00 rebate from Lions International on your billing.
If any spouse joins the Club of their spouse, the Club will receive the $25.00 rebate too. There are special forms that must be filled out when you send the Membership report to International. The forms were in the Governor’s December Newsletter that you can pull off our District Website.
These two very special rebates could help your club gain members and maybe increase your membership before the end of the Lion year. Both of these programs will end by June 30th when the International President’s term is finished.

TO EVERY MEMBER AND EVERY CLUB IN DISTRICT 11E1:

Keep up the great work you are doing with membership!
It’s wonderful to be Number One!!!!
